Here we go again…
Tonight is the final Khabib Vs McGregor press conference before one of the most anticipated UFC events this year, UFC 229, appears on our screens. And if it’s anything like the last press conference, this could definitely be one to watch. Especially with ‘The Notorious’ Conor McGregor involved.
UFC 229 will see The Eagle fight The Notorious in a battle for the UFC Lightweight Champion Belt. An event that has been rapidly building in hype over the last few months. Especially since the incident involving McGregor and a bus in New York earlier this year.
If McGregor manages to beat the favourite, not only will he have another belt to his name, but he will destroy Khabib’s record winning streak of 26 wins.
But before all of that, we have the pre-fight presser to look forward to first. Luckily for us, The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) recently revealed that unlike the last, tonight’s press conference, held in home base Las Vegas, Nevada, will be open to the public.
Something Dana White chose to avoid at the previous press conference due to the backlash McGregor received earlier this year. Speaking to MMA Junkie he shared his thoughts on this: “I absolutely made the right decision on this one,” when referring to the banning of the public. “I felt it halfway through the press conference, and I’m definitely feeling it now.”
A good idea to open the gates to the public or not, it will certainly provide some high-class Thursday night entertainment if you’re in the area.
Will The Past Repeat?
And, for those who miraculously managed to miss what happened at the last prefight presser, it involved a lot of well thought out smack talk from McGregor, thrown at Khabib. A lot of which got rather personal. Alongside the endless promotion of McGregor’s new whisky. Something that caused mixed opinions amongst viewers across social media.
On YouTube, one user commented “I feel like UFC is setting Conor to lose, think about it. how long are they willing to afford Conor’s price tag? milking Conor. I’m sure dana notices the shots Conor took at him during the presser.”
That press conference with Conor McGregor and Khabib was surreal to watch. McGregor reminded me of Tony Montana in the movie Scarface when he was sitting in front of a mountain of cocaine, drunk (and high) with power, and about to meet his demise.
