Valentina Shevchenko successfully defended her flyweight championship at the recently-concluded UFC 238 pay-per-view event at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois, Saturday night.
The queen of flyweight stole the show and brought the whole MMA community into a frenzy after pulling off one of the most brutal head kicks seen in the UFC.
The unlucky recipient of Shevchenko’s perfectly-executed head kick was Jessica Eye, the number one contender in the flyweight division who was riding on a three-fight winning streak.
Just like Eye, Shevchenko was also on a tear, sweeping the last three UFC outings since losing to Amanda Nunes in their title bout for the bantamweight championship.
The Russian champ marched as the heavy favourite to win the co-main event bout, and she needed just two rounds to live up and even exceed expectations.
After dominating the opening round, Shevchenko finished her challenger in the second after landing the brutal head kick.

Shevchenko Saw It Coming
While many fans were shocked with what unfolded in the UFC 238 co-main event, Shevchenko said she expected that she would land a type of hit against Eye.
“In this first round, I felt that a kick to the body went through and she was a little bit broke,” Shevchenko told reporters in the post-fight interview, per CBS Sports.
“That’s how I knew it would work and as the second round continued, I knew I could land it.”
“I was ready for a hard, brutal fight. That’s why I was prepared to do my best and show my skills.”
“Like I said before, 125 is my natural weight class and I am happy to be here and that is where I want to be.”
“All [in the top 10] is very strong, and I am happy to fight all of them because 125 is the future of MMA in this sport.”
