Vicente Luque Praises ‘Ironed Chined’ Mike Perry After Epic War At UFC Uruguay

UFC welterweight Vicente Luque has some kind words for Mike Perry, following their epic showdown at UFC Fight Night 156 last weekend.

The welterweight pair gave the Antel Arena crowd in Uruguay a thrilling co-main event bout as they starred in an absolute bloodbath, much to the delight of mixed martial arts fans.

Luque, who was on a five-fight winning streak going into UFC Uruguay, delivered a jaw-dropping highlight in the fight as he landed a vicious flying knee to Perry’s face in the third round.

Perry sustained a horrific nose injury after that flying knee, but he was still able to push Luque to his limits, stretching the contest into a full five rounds.

According to Perry’s team, the American welterweight was rushed immediately in the hospital after the fight as he had difficulty in breathing and had to get a CT scan.

The following day, Perry underwent a successful operation and is expected to be sidelined for at least 180 days to recover.

Hard-Hitting Beast

Despite the terrible injury, MMA fans and pros alike were all praises for ‘Platinum’ for showing his mental toughness at UFC Uruguay.

The 27-year-old Brazilian is no different.

Taking to his personal Twitter account, Luque thanked his supporters after a successful UFC outing before addressing Perry, whom he described as a hard-hitting beast who has an iron chin.

“I want to thank all of my supporters and MMA fans! Every time I step in the octagon I try to deliver the best fight possible and I hope that one was to your liking,” he wrote.

“Mad respect to @platinummikeperry He is a hard hitting ironed chined beast! Truly wish him the best and quickest recovery.”

‘The Silent Assassin’ has now stretched his winning streak to six fights and is set to climb up the welterweight rankings.

Training Together

Both Luque and Perry took home a $50 000 bonus as their epic clash was given the Fight Of The Night honour.

According to Perry’s wife, Danielle Nickerson, his husband is now doing ‘doing ok’ following a successful surgery.

Meanwhile, Perry has also extended his appreciation for Luque in an Instagram post while offering the Brazilian a chance to train together.

“FOTN ! It takes 2 !”

“Thanks for the bonus, you didn’t have to do my face like that tho sheesh. Cursed with this chin, should’ve had my guard up like you. “

“Ko or not one significant strike can do the job. When I’m healed we’ll train so you can beat these wrestlers. Congrats @luquevicente !”

Following the defeat, ‘Platinum’ now holds a 13-5 win-loss record in his overall professional MMA record.

Perry’s most recent win was against Alex Oliveira at UFC Sunrise last April after coasting to a unanimous decision win.

Can Perry return to the win column in his next UFC bout?
