Without a doubt, the UFC 227 co-main event featuring Henry Cejudo (13-2) and Demetrious Johnson (27-3-1) was the most significant flyweight title bout in the history of the sport.

It was a close fight with 2-3 on the scorecards, but the world was shocked when Cejudo claimed the title after earning a split decision.

Although Johnson had won the first and third frames while Cejudo had taken the second and fourth, Cejudo was able to win the last round after taking Johnson down several times throughout the fight.

The new UFC flyweight champion brought an end to Johnson’s six-year title reign and 11 consecutive successful title defences.

Despite that, dethroned flyweight champion Johnson was still given a consolation as he, along with his dance partner, Cejudo, earned the “Fight of the Night.” They both received an additional $50,000 for pulling off a thrilling fight.

    Performance of the Night Bonuses

The awardees were announced during the UFC 227 post-fight press conference. Aside from the “Fight of the Night”, UFC President Dana White also announced that TJ Dillashaw and Renato Moicano each won “Performance of the Night” honours. They also received an award of $50,000 each.

Their awards are well-deserved as both fighters also gave UFC fans an exciting fight to watch.

In the main event, defending bantamweight champion Dillashaw (16-3 MMA, 12-3 UFC) stopped Cody Garbrandt (11-2 MMA, 6-2 UFC) with a first-round TKO at the 4:10 mark of Round 1.

    Moicano Submits Cub Swanson

In a short, but breathtaking match, Moicano  (13-1-1 MMA, 4-1 UFC) claimed his victory when he dropped Swanson (25-10 MMA, 10-6 UFC) in the first round.

The eager Moicano surprisingly took down Swanson on the first round, then immediately finished him on the ground with a rear-naked choke. He just showed the UFC fans that they should look forward to his next fights.

Moicano stopped Swanson at the 4:15 mark of the fight.
