Tyson Fury delivered one of the most memorable boxing performances last weekend in his gigantic clash with reigning WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder.
The Gypsy King absorbed a powerful combo from the ‘Bronz Bomber’ in the closing stage of their bout, which left him motionless on the floor for a few seconds. Everyone thought that the fight was already over for the British boxer. Wilder had even made his celebratory dance. But Fury refused to give up just yet and stunned the boxing world with his resurrection in the twelfth round.
Fury drew comparisons with ‘The Undertaker’ for this famous come-back-from-the-dead highlight last Saturday but the legendary movie character, Rocky Balboa, could also be Fury’s inspiration in his classic performance.

Best Highlight of The Fury-Wilder Fight
The lineal heavyweight champion was in full control in the majority of the match but suffered two knockdowns in the ninth and twelfth round respectively. Wilder landed a powerful combo in the final round, which sent the challenger into the mat motionless. Just when the defending champion thought the battle was over, Fury rose from the ashes and proceeded to finish the fight.
It was one of the best highlights, or probably the only highlight, of the Fury-Wilder match-up. It also reflects Fury’s boxing career, which suffered a three-year death because of his battle against depression, drug use, and obesity. But he managed to come back from the dead and delivered one of the classic performances in boxing history.
Boxing fans and pundits alike cried in unison that the victory should be awarded to the British boxer after dominating the American champ in nine to ten rounds. Fury echoed the same sentiment in the post-fight presser but refused to complain about the result.
“I felt I should have won the fight, but I’m not going to sit here and complain. God bless Deontay Wilder. 100 per cent, we’ll do it. I would love for it to be my next fight. Why not? Let’s give the fans what they want to see. It was a great fight and let’s do it again. It doesn’t matter to me where we do it.”
Rocky Balboa Lives on Fury
Shortly after the controversial split decision draw, ‘The Gypsy King’ had an emotional moment in the dressing room, where he was seen sporting the iconic Rocky Balboa underpants. Check out the photos below (via Boxing on BT Sport):
Was he paying tribute to the iconic character? Or was it used to bring a sort of luck? The Philly fighter wore the red, white and blue stripes in the fourth instalment to the Rocky Series, where he overwhelmed his biggest rival Ivan Drago in a classic fight.
Recently, Sylvester Stallone, who gave life to the iconic role in eight films, has announced his retirement from playing the legendary role. The veteran actor reprised his role in the sequel to the spinoff movie, Creed.
