Twitter Reacts To Kamaru Usman Winning Welterweight Title At UFC 235

Tyron Woodley marched on his fifth title-defence in the star-studded UFC 235, held at the T-mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Saturday night. To the surprise of many, it seemed like a different Woodley showed up in this fight that could cement his legacy as the greatest welterweight of all-time.

“The Chosen One” has been victorious in his last three fights, scoring a pair of decision wins against Stephen Thompson and Demian Maia respectively before submitting Darren Till in his most recent title-retention bid.  For his fifth title-defence, he faced Nigerian fighter Kamaru Usman in the co-main event of the UFC’s second pay-per-view offering in 2019.

Woodley has joined the ranks of French-Canadian legend Georges St-Pierre and Matt Hughes as the only welterweights to defend the belt for five times. A win tonight against Usman could define his legacy. Unfortunately, his challenger has different plans.

Usman brought the current champion to a clinic as he dominated Woodley in a five-round contest to become the first African-born champion in the history of the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

Total Domination

From the start to the finish, it was Usman who dominated the co-main event of UFC 235. The fight was expected to be a barnburner affair, but oddly, a different Woodley showed up in what could be a legacy-defining moment for him.

“The Nigerian Nightmare” was just solid from the get-go to the final bell as he pummelled and hammered Woodley, who was in a strange form on Saturday night. Fans praised Usman for his total domination en route to winning the welterweight title.

Meanwhile, they slammed Woodley for an underwhelming performance, calling him “lazy, boring, and not interested.” Check out some of the craziest reactions from the Twitter-verse on Usman’s victory over Woodley at UFC 235:

Usman just made history!

Some fans made fun of Woodley’s poor showing against Usman.
