Twitter Reacts To Floyd Mayweather vs Tenshin Nakusawa Announcement

Earlier today, the Rizin Fighting Federation announced that the Japanese promotion has booked Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Tenshin Nasukawa for the main event of Rizin 14 on December 31 at the Saitama Super Arena.

After months of providing hints for a potential return to professional fighting, it was finally confirmed on Monday that the 41-year old will make his comeback later this year. And it came as a complete shocker for combat sports fans as Mayweather could be fighting in MMA for the first time in his career.

    Super Challenge

Mayweather will take on the Japanese kickboxing sensation Nasukawa in the New Year’s Eve show of Rizin FF. It will be the first fight for the undefeated boxer since retiring last year, following a 10th round-knockout victory over bitter rival Conor McGregor.

The Japanese promotion said that this showdown will have “special rules” although no further details have been provided in today’s press conference, which caused a stir at the combats sports world.

Some fans and even pros took to Twitter to express their disapproval on the Mayweather vs Nasukawa fight at year-end. Check out some of the craziest reactions from the Twitter-verse in the posts below:

But not all fans are created equal. There are some combat sports enthusiasts who want to see the fight unfolds.

As of today, the format and rules of the fight have yet to be finalized but John Morgan of MMAjunkie wrote in a Twitter post that it would be a three-round match.
