Twitter Reacts To Max Holloway Wrecking Brian Ortega

Max Holloway solidifies his status as the greatest featherweight of all-time after a masterful performance against Brian Ortega in the main event of the UFC 231, Saturday night, in Toronto, Canada.

‘Blessed’ returned to the octagon, following a series of pullouts in three consecutive UFC events, and passed the biggest test of his career with flying colours after destroying Ortega in an all-out four-round war to retain his UFC featherweight championship title.

And Still The UFC Featherweight Champ

A loose and composed Holloway showed up in the first round, landing significant punches and strikes on his challenger. The Hawaiian fan favourite continued his onslaught on the second round, with his energy and confidence remaining high, busting up ‘T-City’ with ferocious strikes and combos.

Ortega connected with a pair of elbows in the third, putting Holloway off-balance, but the defending champion countered it with his textbook striking before the doctors called off the fight after the fourth frame.

‘T-City’ was billed as the biggest acid test for Holloway as he ranked second in the featherweight division, following his six stoppage wins. They were scheduled to lock horns in July at UFC 226 but Holloway pulled out from the title fight after suffering concussion-like symptoms.

It became the third time “Blessed” withdrew from a fight as he was also ruled ineligible to fight at UFC 22 against ex-lightweight champion Frankie Edgar after sustaining a leg injury before pulling out in the last minute of his lightweight title fights showdown against current champion Khabib Nurmagomedov

MMA fans cannot help but praise Holloway for his phenomenal outing against Ortega as he did not even show any sign of rust despite a one-year layoff. Check out the craziest reactions from the Twitter-verse on ‘Blessed’s dominant win over Ortega at UFC 231:

Ortega absorbed his first loss in his UFC career while Holloway stretched his historic win streak to 13 fights and cemented his status as the 145-pound GOAT in MMA.
