Tony Ferguson made a massive statement on Saturday night as he sent Donald Cerrone crashing back to earth with a vicious technical knockout win.
Cerrone and Ferguson locked horns in the main card of UFC 238 at the United Center in Chicago, with a potential crack at the lightweight gold on the line.
Before this massive clash, Cerrone has won two consecutive fights in his return to the 155-pound class.
He brought Alexander Hernandez to school last January before defeating Al Iaquinta at UFC Ottawa last month, where he set new UFC records.
Cerrone scored two knockdowns against Iaquinta, which steered him to the top spot for most knockdowns in UFC with 20 overall, surpassing Anderson Silva and Jeremy Stephens in this department.
The win also gave Cerrone his 23rd UFC career victory, making him the winningest fighter in the history ahead of Georges St-Pierre, Michael Bisping, and Demian Maia who collected 20 wins each.
Ferguson, meanwhile, has not been seen in the cage since October of 2018 but he is riding on a streak of his own, winning 11 straight bouts.

Ferguson asserted his dominance against Cerrone and extended his winning ways to 12 bouts.
The lightweight pair started the fight on a high note, with Cerrone able to land shots and kicks while Ferguson delivered a solid knee and somebody kicks in an intense exchange.
‘El Cucuy’ found his groove in the second round after looking a bit lost in the opening frame.
He started to land good punches as Cerrone continued to be more aggressive, attempting to bring Ferguson down on the mat.
Ferguson hit ‘Cowboy’ after the bell, but no points were deducted.
However, the doctor ruled out that Cerrone cannot continue the fight after two rounds, giving Ferguson the technical knockout victory.
