Mixed martial arts is such an intense sport that it is rare to see light moments between fighters, especially in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
But last weekend, welterweight fighters Darren Till and Mike Perry shared a hilarious moment when the English mixed martial artist realised that he was invited to spar and not to go in a spa.
From Enemies to Friends
In the previous year, Till and Perry almost got into a fight in a UFC event. Thankfully, there was a cage that prevented them from throwing hands against each other.
Since then, many fans thought a rivalry was brewing in the welterweight division. But instead of becoming mortal enemies, they developed an unexpected friendship outside the octagon.
Last week, both fighters were in Los Angeles for a massive UFC presser. Till and Perry were in attendance as the former is booked for a UFC 228 fight against Tyron Woodley this September while the latter will battle Donald Cerrone in Fight Night 139 in November.
This time, they turned another face-to-face to an actual sparring but in the most friendly way.
Spar Not Spa
Bran Holloway captured the hilarious moment starring the two welterweight fighters. Perry invited Till to a friendly exchange of punches but the 25-yr old slugger thought the offer was something different.
Perry: “All I got is little MMA gloves.”
Till: “What, you want to spar? Sparring?”
Perry: “But I know you spar different. I know how you are. You hit hard.”
Till: “Oh, I thought you meant to spa, like a steam? (Expletive) hell! (Expletive) hell!”
Perry: “No, I meant, let’s go fight.”
