The story of David vs Goliath is very common in sports. Some people love rooting for the underdog. This is why many athletes are brave enough to go up against bigger opponents.
Meanwhile, in combat sports, it is not always a matter of who is the more powerful fighter. Because it takes skills, power, quickness, and style to dominate the sport. So when a team of Thai boxers took on a group of giant bodybuilders, they were able to pull the rug from under their bigger opponents.
Skills Beat Size
Muay Thai is a good arsenal both in kickboxing and MMA. When you are trained in this combat sport, you can have a very effective offence and a reliable defence.
In this video from Hardgainer Crew, a bodybuilding organisation based in Germany, you can witness the benefit of Muay Thai in dominating bigger foes. The Thai boxers showed that skills beat size in intense sparring against massive bodybuilders.
At first glance, you may have thought that the bodybuilders will easily crash the youngsters with their sheer power and strength. Despite the size disadvantage, the Thai boxers were able to turn things around against the big guys.
During the full sparring, the disparity on technique and skills from both sides were evident. The Muay Thai guys just brushed off any attempts from the big dudes as they showcased their defensive capabilities.
As to their offence, the youngsters put on a clinic as they made it look so easy with their kicks and punches. At the end of the friendly match, a bodybuilder was not able to stand up after his right leg was hurt.
