No longer “Human Cockfighting”
In the early days of wrestling and mixed martial arts, contact sports used to have a bad image that it’s filled with deranged thugs who only competed so they can have something to do between stays in jail.
While there are still some who sees it as that, many people even those not fan of the sport regard it with high honour. Today’s vast majority of fighters train hard to put their names on top of the list.
However, one combatant from a few years back in Columbia at regional show Striker Fighting Championship 10 seems to be living in the past. We see an example of exactly the kind of thing the naysayers believe our fair sport is all about.
A heavyweight fight between Servanto Aguilar and Jim Abadia started off as a normal and calm fight. But after Abadia has successfully knocked out his rival, he continued attacking him with what seems to be anger.
This is getting personal
This was when the referee used his own energy to pull Abadia off his defeated opponent instead of just doing his normal job. What this fighter did is what most of us hate to see inside the cage.
When the referee’s energy failed to halt him, the cornerman jumps inside to help him subdue Abadia, but is shoved to the ground by the rampaging fighter.
Despite this nasty behaviour inside the cage, we’re giving Abadia the benefit of the doubt. It’s possible that there is some kind of heated rivalry or something else going on behind the scenes that we’re not aware of.
Watch the footage below:
Abadia went on to fight three more times, winning one and losing two. He never made it past the regional level either.
As for Aguilar — his opponent — he never fought again.
