MMA pros have varying predictions ahead of UFC 226 Miocic vs Cormier
UFC 226 surely has all the makings of being a true summer blockbuster for featuring a fight between two combatants who both want to create history for themselves. UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic is defending his heavyweight title for the fourth time against UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier.
This stellar fight is a hard bout to judge because Cormier did a perfect 13-0 run at heavyweight before handling his current title. Miocic, on the other hand, is currently riding a six-fight winning streak with three of them successfully maintaining the heavyweight belt to himself.
Aside from that, both of the champs are on an all-out confidence mode, each saying there’s no way they will get defeated. We all know only one will seize the title at the end of their fight tomorrow so fans and MMA pros are now placing their bets.
Here are five fighters trying to predict DC and Miocic’s fate:
Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champ Chuck Liddell
“DC is gonna wear him (Miocic) down, get on top of him and get him tired early.
If DC gets tired late like he tends to and Stipe still got some power left in those hands, it’s gonna be a bad night for DC.”
Official pick: “I’m rooting for DC”
UFC Welterweight Legend BJ Penn
“If DC’s speed is gonna come in the play he’s gonna be fast
I think Stipe’s power is gonna come in the play (too)”
Official pick: Undecided
Michelle “The Karate Hottie” Waterson
I love both of those guys I think they both carry themselves very well and I love their personalities, they’re very genuine people.
Official pick: I’m going for DC
UFC Fighter Kevin Gastelum
“I just feel like Miocic hasn’t fought a wrestler as DC… I think it’s gonna be a huge factor in that fight.”
Official pick: DC, maybe
Heavyweight Fighter Curtis Blaydes
“I feel like he’s a better striker overall, mostly with the kickbox… and he’s got a better cardio too.”
Official pick: I’m going for Stipe
