People witnessed a bloodbath inside the Octagon
A massive blood spill happened inside the cage as Mike “Platinum” Perry fought Paul “Irish Dragon” Felder in a welterweight bout at UFC 226 inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
This fight isn’t either the main card or the co-main event, but it somehow felt like it was. UFC 226’s co-main card match Derrick Lewis vs Francis Ngannou bored the daylight out of its audience, even tagging it as the ‘worst’ fight ever. So this is supposed to be the fight we’ve never expected to excite us this much.
During the three rounds of brutal action, Perry did a lot of damage on Felder who even broke his arm along the way. In the end, it was a split decision win in favour of Perry.
Short-notice but action-packed
Perry was supposed to fight Yancy Medeiros but it was called off due to the Hawaiian-born fighter’s broken rib. It was just a little over a week when Felder stepped in and accepted the bout on short notice.
Early in the fight, the Irish Dragon threw sharp low kicks but the duo’s head clash resulted to an open cut on his forehead. Blood started sprouting from both of their foreheads at the onslaught of the first round.
This happened just after the two exchanged nasty elbows where Perry landed a major devastating one. It wasn’t long before Felder seemed to find his range a bit, landing some powerful kicks at distance.
Shortly, Perry also proved his power and strategy by mixing punches to the body and looking for the elbow at every opportunity. His opponent scored a nice spinning back fist at the bell.
This active brawl continued where both fighters are advancing over the other in their own successful strikes. Despite this, it became a bloody exchange of jabs and kicks on the second round where Felder’s cut was reopened, causing an awful blood spill.
As to how UFC’s live blog named it, the 33-year old combatant is a ‘bloody mess heading into the final round.’ By the third, the two fighters were trading shots to close the last one and are both having success on the hits.

At the end of the bloody fight, Perry saw himself raising his hand in victory over a split decision. He gained serious cuts on the nose as well, but it was nothing compared to winning.
“I got my first decision victory – this is something. I can see my career moving forward in a positive direction, and I’m happy with that. I’m getting better. It shows room for growth – that’s always good. I can’t just know everything yet. I’m ready to relax and have some fun and then get back in the gym and get even better.”
UFC 226’s main card Daniel Cormier vs Stipe Miocic was a historic bout that ended in a KO after 4 and a half minutes. The three-rounder co-main event of Lewis and Ngannou was a disappointment. So we can say that this ‘bloody’ brawl spiced up the fight week.
