If the stars align this May, then the UFC will have one of its most exciting and intriguing fight cards this year.
Former two-division champion, Conor McGregor, has teased a trilogy fight with Nate Diaz after Anderson Silva said he wants to rematch the 35-year old Nick this May.
The world’s most prestigious MMA outfit will head to South America on May 11 for the iteration of UFC 237 and “The Notorious” wants to be a part of this roster if the promotion officially books “The Spider” and the Stockton slugger for a return bout.
Conor McGregor witnessed Anderson Silva’s classic performance against Israel Adesanya at UFC 234 last Saturday night.
The 43-year old Brazilian gave his younger opponent a run for his money as he fought through three thrilling rounds with his vintage form and old school tricks.
Silva may have dropped a unanimous decision to Adesanya, but he earned the respect of the MMA world after showing that he still got it despite a two-year layoff and almost in the twilight of his career.
Even the Irish star was all praises for “The Spider” after an entertaining scrap with Adesanya.
“Anderson is one crafty, crafty Martial Artist.”
“You only develop these methods through years of hard-fought experience.”
“Phenomenal performance. The crafty veteran. Big respect always.”
“It would be an honour!” he wrote on Twitter.
Following his UFC 234 loss, Silva reiterated that his fighting career is far from over.
The MMA legend said he wants to fight Nick Diaz in his former hometown in Brazil for his next tour of duty.
“Now I have the chance to fight in my city where everything starts.”
“I talked to Ed, and I talked to my team, and I think it makes sense to fight Nick Diaz in Curitiba.
“Let’s go see.”
“I’m just waiting for Dana because it’s not time to make the decisions.
“Hopefully, I go fight in Curitiba.”
Shortly after Silva expressed his interest in a return bout with the older Diaz, the Irish star quickly chimed in and said he would fight Nate in a trilogy bout on the same card.

McGregor and Diaz split their previous encounters, with the 33-year old Nate winning the first one via submission before the Dubliner bounced back with a majority decision win.
Nate’s second meeting with the former two-division champion was also the last time he was seen at the Octagon.
Meanwhile, McGregor returned to the cage last October and absorbed an emphatic submission loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov in their lightweight title fight.
Fans have been waiting for ages for the UFC to book a third instalment to the Diaz and McGregor rivalry.
According to a recent report, Nate is training hard and is in good shape to fight, though he has yet to sign any fight deal and even teased a move to UFC’s rival promotion, the Bellator MMA.
His older brother, Nick, has reportedly called it quits after 37 professional bouts.
