Floyd Mayweather Jr. will be a man on a mission when he heads to the Land of the Rising Sun later this year for the Rizin 14 main event.
The boxing legend is set to fight in the Japanese fighting league against the highly-touted kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa this December 31 at the Saitama Super Arena. Contrary to what most fans claim, Mayweather did not accept the offer for cash but he wanted to rewrite history in, what he considers as, the biggest moment of his life.

Returning To Action
Mayweather will come out of retirement to lock horns with the Japanese phenom, Nasukawa, in the headlining act of Rizin FF’s New Year’s Eve show. It will be the first time for the 41-year old legend to compete professionally after he decided to hang his gloves last year, following a knockout win against Conor McGregor in ‘The Money Fight.’
Prior to his clash with Nasukawa, the Japanese promotion also announced that there would be “special rules” in this fight, although it is not yet determined if they will be pitted in boxing, mixed martial arts, or kickboxing.
The 20-year old sensation, who is fresh off scoring the biggest win of his career against former UFC flyweight title challenger Kyoji Horiguchi at Rizin FF 13, wants to become the first fighter to put a stain on Mayweather’s record.
“Nobody has defeated my opponent in the past, and I’d like to be the man who makes history. My punch can change history, and I’ll show that to you so please stay tuned.”

Mayweather, on the other hand, sees no problem in fighting Rizin FF’s biggest star as long as it helps him establish a better relationship with the company.
” I would love to continue to work with RIZIN because RIZIN is an unbelievable company, and my company, we’ve been making some huge fights happen in the US, but we look forward to taking the Mayweather Promotions banner and the TMT banner worldwide. And if it takes working with a great guy like this, there’s no problem.”
He then explained the driving force behind this recent move, citing his desire to explore new things as the major reason. Finally, ‘Money’ advised the combat sports world to ‘just watch’ as he will change the history next month using his fists.
“I wanted to do something different. I wanted to display my skills outside the US and be in a special fight. I want to give the people what they want – blood, sweat and tears.
“It was a surprise offer but I accepted without hesitation. It’s the biggest moment in my life and I want to be the man who changes history. I’ll do that with these fists, with one punch – just watch.”
