Watch: Masvidal Finally Accepts Nate Diaz’s Challenge: “Two Dogs, Locked In The Cage”

UFC welterweight contender Jorge Masvidal has finally accepted Nate Diaz’s challenge to an MMA fight, which the latter described as a battle for the ‘baddest motherf**cker’ belt.

Masvidal became one of the hottest names in the UFC after a sensational win over Ben Askren at UFC 239.

His stocks soared high, following his five-second knockout of the former Bellator champion, which was the fastest finish in UFC history.

Despite the historical performance, Masvidal will not be fighting for the welterweight title in his next UFC outing, but he stressed that he deserves a hefty paycheck in his return.

One of the welterweights who expressed interest in fighting ‘Gamebred’ was the slugger from Stockton, California, who is coming off a dominant win at UFC 241 last weekend.

Diaz announced his return emphatically as he manhandled Anthony Pettis in the co-headliner of UFC 241 to score his first win in three years.

No West Coast Gangster

Shortly after his unanimous decision win over Pettis, the former Strikeforce standout called out Masvidal, who was inside the Honda Center.

“The reason I was off is cause everybody sucked and there was nobody to fight,” Diaz stated in the post-fight interview (via MMA Fighting)

“With this belt, I want to defend it against Jorge Masvidal, he had a good last fight. All respect to the man but there ain’t no gangsters in his game anymore.”

“I know my man’s a gangster but he ain’t no west coast gangster.”

Ready To Put It On The Line

Masvidal agreed to Diaz that while he is no West Coast gangster, he was still “so gangster” that he’d fight on Diaz’s territory.

“Nate was right about one thing: I’m no West coast gangsters,” Masvidal said on his newly-launched YouTube channel (transcript from MMA Fighting).

“I’m from Miami-Dade county. I’m a dirty south goon – damn right, I ain’t no West coast gangster. And I’m ready. I’m ready to put it on the line.”

“I’m so gangster with it, we can do it – besides the 7 percent tax in Cali – we can do it in Cali.”

Aside from both fighters verbally agreeing to fight, ‘Gamebred’ also revealed that negotiation between both camps is now underway.

“We’re just negotiating now.”

“Let’s give the fans the fight that they want to see. Two dogs, locked in the cage, going for the jugular.”

Masvidal said this matchup would make MMA fans and guarantees that both of them will go all-out in this fight.

“You know I could get hit with a baseball bat and it don’t mean nothing. The same thing for my rival.”

“You could hit that dude with a baseball bat to the kneecaps and he’s going to keep coming.”

“It’s a fight that the fans want and they’re going to get. I’m going to give it my all, and I know Nate’s going to give it his all. Let’s do it.”
