Pacquiao vs Lomachenko? Not bad
After losing his WBO welterweight championship against Jeff Horn last year, Top Rank promoter Bob Arum is reportedly eyeing 8-division world champion Manny Pacquiao as a potential launch pad for Vasyl Lomachenko (11-1, 9 KOs) for a huge rise on his status in the sport.
In an interview with Los Angeles Times reporter Lance Pugmire, Arum said Pacquiao (59-7-2, 38 KOs) is one of the options for Lomachenko’s return.
At the end of this year, Arum says he is choosing between Pacquiao and the “Beltran-Pedraza winner” referring to WBO lightweight champion Ray Beltran and Jose Pedraza for Lomachenko’s next opponent.
Arum also says @VasylLomachenko shoulder surgery recovery is going remarkably well and it's certain he will return to the ring in November or December against either @mannypacquiao or the Aug. 25 Beltran-Pedraza winner…

Fighting the former global superstar
It has been a while since this possibility floated around the boxing sphere, particularly from Arum’s mouth. Pacquiao, on the other hand, is not at closing his door on this matchup.
According to Arum, “Pacman” showed no interested fighting Terence Crawford and is instead focused on a return to 135 pounds to face Vasyl Lomachenko at some point. Plenty of ‘talks’ have been happening regarding Manny’s potential Lomachenko bout, who recently stopped Jorge Linares to become a three-division champion.
Lomancheko just went through a shoulder surgery and is expecting himself back in the ring in December. And it looks like Arum is considering to welcome him with a Pacquiao match.
Lomachenko is tagged as the #1 pound-for-pound boxer after winning a world championship in his third weight class back in May. “Hi-Tech” is also a three-division world titleholder who tends to settle at 135-pounds for the long-term future.
Without a doubt, a possible brawl with Pacquiao will earn Lomachenko a fight paycheque. It’s now just a matter of agreement between the two fighters.
Pacquiao vs Matthysse
Pacquiao will re-enter the boxing ring on an upcoming bout against Argentinean world champion Lucas Matthysse on July 14.
“Mas mabilis naman tayo di hamak sa kaniya. Champion.”
Translation: “We’re (I’m) notably faster than him (Matthysse). A champion.”
It’s a usual trend on boxing to pair a faded star with a rising talent. In most of these cases, the rising fighter gets a momentous win that would signal the start of his great career in the sport. Will this trend extend to the possible Pacquiao-Lomachenko match?
