If you want to ensure your eyes stay in peak condition, there are a few everyday ways you can look after your eye health.
Protect and Cover Up
Even in winter, the sun can emit harsh UVA and UVB rays that can cause permanent damage to our eyesight. Excessive exposure to sunlight reflected in the snow can cause snow blindness and increase the risk of other eye complications, so take extra care if you plan to spend time in the snow or on the piste this winter. Regular Check Ups
Make sure your eye prescription is up-to-date and the right strength by getting a yearly eye exam. Make an appointment with your optician immediately if you notice any changes or abnormalities in the eye area – even seemingly minor symptoms such as getting headaches more often or seeing more floaters than usual can be a sign of underlying issues, so don’t be shy about having any vision abnormalities checked out.
Some of the chemical preservatives (added to prevent mould growth) in certain mascaras and eye makeup can actually be harmful to our eye health.
