The late fighter who sent many of his opponents to a TKO
Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson is a badass street fighter who compiled himself a book of several eccentric brawls. When he entered the sphere of professional mixed martial arts, he turned into a superstar for his amazing power.
Now, it turns out that the MMA legend’s life will flash before every fan’s eyes in a film adaptation in the making.
The late Slice’s biopic entitled “Backyard Legend” is currently in the works according to a report from IMDB. It is set to focus on his life journey before passing away from heart failure on June 6, 2016.
YouTube paved the way for Slice’s fame after his street fight footages in Miami dominated the internet. This start-up sent him to a short-but-memorable career in mixed martial arts.
Ferguson successfully compiled a win-loss record of 5-2. He has fought with now-defunct EliteXC, the UFC and Bellator MMA. Slice’s MMA appearance gathered a massive audience and high rating success, plus a stint on “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 10.
Now the huge question is, who will play the role of the powerful MMA puncher? He’s a professional boxer, wrestler and MMA combatant at the same time. Pressure must be on the shoulder of the chosen actor.
The challenge is up for Hollywood actor Winston Duke, most famous for his role as M’Baku in Black Panther, in playing the lead role as Kimbo Slice. Aside from the aforementioned film, Duke also appeared as the same character in “Avengers: Infinity War.”
In addition to the that, the rising actor had roles of TV series namely “Modern Family” and “Person of Interest.”
How well do you think will Duke play his role as the late Kimbo Slice?
Fans deeply mourned the death of Bahamian-born Slice who passed away at 42. His final bout happened in February 2016 when he defeated fellow Miami street fighter Dhafir “Dada 5000” Harris at Bellator 149. Sadly, it was later announced as a no contest after the late combatant tested positive for steroids.
His biopic “Backyard Legend” is also under another working title, the name he raised himself, Kimbo.
