Khabib’s Manager Names 3 Opponents For Tony Ferguson, None Of Them Are Khabib

Before reports broke out that the Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Georges St-Pierre showdown is currently in the works, there was one name who loomed as the potential next assignment for the Russian champion – Tony Ferguson.

‘El Cucuy’ sent a strong statement earlier this month that he deserves the next title shot after scoring a hard-earned win over Anthony Pettis in their bloody match-up at the UFC 229 co-main event. UFC President Dana White also told the MMA world to ignore the Floyd Mayweather Jr. boxing match rumours as he thinks Ferguson rightfully deserves to face the Russian champ next.

However, Khabib’s manager Ali Abdelaziz believes otherwise. The controversial MMA manager took to Twitter and gave his honest take on Ferguson’s chance against the lightweight champion.

A Walk in The Park

MMA fans were treated to a major surprise last night when Team Khabib dropped a huge announcement about Nurmagomedov’s next assignment, following a dominant win over rival Conor McGregor at the UFC 229 main event.

Abdelaziz earlier teased fans about this big news, which he assured will blow everyone’s mind.

Hours later, Team Dagestan revealed that there are now plans to stage a fight between two of the biggest names in the sport. The showdown between the promotion’s best grappler, Nurmagomedov, and one of the greatest MMA fighters, St-Pierre, is now in the works.

Finally, there is now at least a hint as to which direction the lightweight class is going after a flurry of callouts that stormed the MMA world in the past weeks. The UFC surely wants to pick up where it left off after the gigantic Khabib vs Conor clash amassed a record-shattering 2.4-million pay per view buys.

But the move will leave ‘El Cucuy’ out of title contention. This, however, seems to be a non-issue for Khabib’s manager as he believes that the 34-year old Ferguson will be a walk in the park for the Dagestan phenom.

Abdelaziz posted on Twitter:

Nothing is cast in stone yet. But Team Dagestan proved to be a reliable source when they announced last June that the McGregor-Nurmagomedov fight was in the works. It was announced months after and the rest, as they say, is history.

It may be too early to call but who do you think will prevail between GSP and Khabib? Share us your thoughts!
