Khabib Nurmagomedov’s father said that the undefeated UFC lightweight champion is demanding an insane paycheck to rematch with his bitter rival, Conor McGregor.
The 27-year old mixed martial artist kept his unblemished record intact when he submitted ‘The Notorious’ at UFC 229, which recorded the highest pay-per-view buys in the promotion’s history. With the huge success of their first encounter, there is no doubt that a rematch can reach another massive breakthrough. But the Nevada-based promotion needs to break the bank to lure Nurmagomedov into fighting the Irishman for the second time.

Rematch in MMA or Boxing?
Despite the ugly post-fight brawl that broke at UFC 229 last month, the first instalment to the Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor heated rivalry remained to be a great success for the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
The fight became the second largest gate and the highest pay-per-view record in UFC ever. After the madness at UFC 229, fans continued to anticipate what is next for both UFC stars. McGregor has been rumoured to face Donald Cerrone or Dustin Poirier while Khabib has been very busy on his activities outside the MMA but he recently challenged the undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr. to a boxing fight.
Speaking of a boxing fight, Khabib’s father, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, revealed last month that his son is interested in a fight with the Irish star under boxing rules for their rematch.
“As for the fight against Conor under boxing rules, this is a fight we are interested in. Khabib showed that he is able to beat the best strikers of mixed martial arts. Nurmagomedov is able to do it in the boxing ring. Khabib has all the skills to win by the rules of boxing.”

Khabib Was Offered Big Paycheck
Obviously, this boxing fight would guarantee both fighters a red panty day just like when McGregor tussled with Mayweather Jr. last year. But a rematch in the Octagon remains a big possibility as Khabib’s father revealed that ‘The Eagle’ has received an insane offer from UFC matchmakers to go at it again with the Irishman.
He spoke to Sports 24’s Yaroslav Stepanov and said, “They offered $15 million to rematch with Conor. But we want $30 million, guys. $30 million!”
However, Abdulmanap believes that there are other contenders who are more deserving of the title shot after Khabib’s last meeting with McGregor turned into a one-sided fight.
“Some skills have improved at McGregor, there are moments. There is growth, we notice it. There are guys who deserve and wait for Khabib. We must respect them as fighters. This point should also be taken into account. Both the Dustin Poirier and [Tony] Ferguson. Ferguson, I think it deserves it.”
