Khabib’s Teammate Strikes McGregor from Behind
It has been a night filled with fights for UFC 229 in Las Vegas when two of the most excellent combatants in the sport faced off inside the Octagon and continued the brawl outside.
If you have been following the news, you know for sure about how UFC’s still-undefeated lightweight champ Khabib Nurmagomedov jumped out of the cage to attack former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor’s teammate, Dillon Danis.
Just as everyone is still taking what the usually-composed Russian fighter did, another man from his team went to attack McGregor, slapping him from behind. This happened apparently after the Irish pride swung at another guy from team Khabib first.
“Slapped him as promised.”
The controversial guy who allegedly attacked McGregor was Zubaira Tukhugov (18-4 MMA, 3-1 UFC), one of Khabib’s teammates and Chechen countrymen.
He was set to fight the former double champ’s teammate Artem Lobov later this month. Sadly though, UFC President Dana White stripped him of that match, permanently terminating his contract with the promotion.
In the aftermath, Tukhugov took his response to social media. Opposite to what most of us expect, the relinquished fighter seemed more proud about it than anything.
On his reaction video translated by Twitter user Karim Zidan he said:
“I slapped him as promised. I promised to make him answer for his words and I did.”
However, the rest of the selfie speech’s translation of about 40 seconds was not available. Nevertheless, it is obvious that Khabib’s teammate has zero regrets, unapologetic after slapping McGregor who just endured four furious rounds with the undefeated champ.
“It’s all bad.”
“And then the other guy is jumping in and start going after Conor. The guy just fought four hard rounds and you guys are gonna jump in fresh and try to… You know.”
“It’s bad. It’s all bad.”

In terms of the fight, Khabib swiftly took the Dublin pride on a rear naked choke, defeating him via fourth-round submission. This made the Russian fighter’s record unblemished, though his further actions during that night will surely have him enduring serious repercussions.
