Make It Three in a Row for Max Holloway
The MMA universe was in a state of shock Wednesday night after news broke out that UFC Featherweight champion Max Holloway is no longer eligible to fight Brian Ortega in the upcoming UFC 226.
According to Holloway’s manager, the 28-year old mixed martial artist experienced concussion-like symptoms on Monday night. His condition worsened days after being admitted to a local hospital. This forced him to withdraw from his highly-anticipated title defense against Ortega.
It was the third time this year that the ‘Blessed’ pulled out from a UFC Fight. He canceled his match against Frankie Edgar in the UFC 222 due to a leg injury. Then in April, he was also cut from the UFC 223 against Khabib Nurmagomedov after being ruled medically unfit.
Khabib and Other UFC Stars Throw Support to Holloway
With Holloway now out for the UFC 226, some UFC stars took to Twitter to express their reactions on the news.
Khabib Nurmagomedov led the UFC stars in throwing a major support to the embattled fighter. In a tweet, he told Holloway to keep his head up and believe in himself.
Keep your head up Champ, I know what it is, believe in yourself. @BlessedMMA
