Khabib Will Never Fight In Las Vegas Again After NSAC Ruling

Khabib Nurmagomedov has proven multiple times that he holds his brothers dear more than his fighting career.

The Nevada State Athletic Commission has laid out consequent fines and suspensions for Khabib’s team in relation to the post-UFC 229 fracas in October. However, the lightweight king is nowhere near happy with the ‘unfair’ penalties.

UFC 229

For MMA fans, UFC 229 was nothing short of spectacular after it headlined the heart-stopping match between Khabib and Conor McGregor in Las Vegas. But with the reigning lightweight titlist losing his cool, both fighters’ teams are now facing legal consequences from NSAC.

Taking a trip down memory lane,

The lightweight rivals were supposedly set to appear in court for NSAC’s ruling last January 29. However, reports said that the two men, along with Khabib’s cornermen Abubakar Nurmagomedov and Zubaira Tukhugov have entered settlement agreements instead.

Done Fighting

“Wake me up, when it’s all over.”

The undefeated lightweight king played it cool on social media when he posted a photo of him chilling on a couch following NSAC’s decision. But don’t let that fool you because apparently, Khabib is not okay with the ‘justice’ handed down by the commission.

Breaking the news, ESPN’s Ariel Helwani said the Russian fighter is scrapping Nevada as the venue of his next fights after NSAC has suspended his teammates for a year. The sports journalist has also reported Khabib’s next plans through his manager Ali Abdelaziz.

“Just reported on @SportsCenter: Khabib Nurmagomedov is “done” fighting in NV due to the one-year suspension they handed his teammates today, his mgr Ali Abdelaziz said. He will also not fight until their suspensions are over and is now targeting a return to action at MSG in Nov.”

NSAC is suspending Tukhugov and Abubakar for jumping McGregor inside the cage for a year in addition to Khabib’s nine-month/$500k fine. The Dagestan mixed martial artist finds them unacceptable and plans to sit out the full year with his teammates.

Team Dagestan wrote on Twitter:

Khabib will not appeal and will not participate in social advertising.
He was outraged by the sentences of Zubaira and Abubakar. Khabib will return no earlier than his teammates. – said his manager in an interview @BraveIgor

(So we will not see Khabib before the autumn)
