Reigning UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones continues to roll as he made a successful title defense at UFC 235 for his first winning streak since his win over Daniel Cormier was overturned to a no-contest two years ago.
“Bones” picked up where he left off from his win over Alexander Gustafsson last December as he outclassed challenger Anthony Smith in the main event fight.
Despite not getting the finish and a two-point deduction, the all-time great still managed to score an easy win after dominating the whole match with authority.
While many believed that there is no more challenges left for Jones at 205-pounds, UFC president Dana White thinks Thiago Santos would be a worthy opponent, who could give the reigning champion a run for his money.
Amid talks of a potential fight against the fourth-ranked light heavyweight, Jones said he is ready to take on anyone for his next title-defence bout.

Jones proved that he was just too much to handle for Anthony Smith in the main event of UFC 235 at the T-mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday night to retain the light heavyweight strap he won in his highly-anticipated return last December.
A clear favourite to win the headlining bout, Jones lived up to expectations and showed why he is one of the greatest fighters ever to don the four-ounce gloves, defeating his challenger in dominant fashion, 48-44, 48-44, 48-44.
“This MMA thing is really hard. Some days you’ll look amazing. Some days at work, you won’t perform to the level you hold yourself to. With that being said, hats off to Anthony Smith,” Jones said after his UFC 235 victory.

Following this emphatic victory, UFC President Dana White revealed the potential fighter who could challenge Jones for the 205-pound strap.
In the post-fight press conference, he said that he wants to see Jones squares off with Thiago Santos, who recently demolished Jan Blachowicz at UFC Prague.
“I love the Thiago Santos fight. I love that fight. I would love to see him verse Jon Jones. Thiago looks unbelievable at that weight, he’s big, I like his fighting style, and when you put Jon Jones in those type of fights, Jones shines.”
“Jones sort of is one of those guys who rises to the level of his opponent… I think Thiago Santos is going to be one of those guys who comes in aggressive, moves forward and gives you the kind of fight that you’re used to seeing Jon Jones in.”
Here’s how the current light heavy champion responded to a potential showdown with “Marreta” (via MMA Junkie).
“Whoever it may be, I’m ready to take them all. I think all these younger fighters should get their opportunity at a world title. When you’re sitting in my position, it’s like, who am I to deny people?
“At the end of the day, I feel like this is my time, my era, and I was meant to be here to be a great, great champion. This belt here is supposed to be covered in red rubies.
And I got a new challenge to get this thing covered in red rubies – and that means I got to beat a lot of ass, and I’m up for the challenge.”
Will the UFC book Jones vs Santos? Who do you think will win this match-up?
