Another young opponent wants to take on the former eight-division champion, Manny Pacquiao…
Fresh from a victorious outing against Adrien Broner, the Filipino champion was challenged by reigning featherweight kingpin Gervonta Davis to a fight, saying he is interested to share the ring with the boxing legend after his first title-defense fight versus Abner Mares next month.

Manny Pacquiao turned back the clock on Saturday when he displayed his vintage form to dominate Adrien Broner in their boxing showdown at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
“Pacman” eked out a unanimous decision victory as the ringside judges scored 116-112, 116-112, 117-111 in his favour to retain the WBA welterweight strap and to score his second consecutive win since losing to Jeff Horn in 2017.
Showing he has plenty of gas left in the tank, the native of General Santos City, dictated the tempo early in the match and never looked back, which left his 29-year old opponent settling for counters and clinches.
Boxing fans and pundits alike sang praises to the Filipino great for showing that he can still wreak havoc in the ring even at age 40.
“I feel so happy that I did my best in the fight. I thank God for this victory. The Manny Pacquiao journey will still continue. At the age of 40, I can still give my best. Although I wanted to be aggressive more, my camp told me don’t be careless and to counter him and wait for opportunities.”
Now, Pacquiao is eyeing a rematch with Floyd Mayweather Jr, who was at the MGM Grand last Saturday to witness the fight at ringside. The pair tussled in one of the most lucrative boxing fights in history back in 2015, where “Money” scored a comfortable unanimous decision win.
But another world champion in Gervonta Davis wants to try his might against the 40-year old legend. The current WBA super featherweight champion called out Pacquiao in a recent Twitter post and said in an Instagram story that he “will put Manny to sleep.”
I want to fight Pac man next. I’m calling AL Tmrw

Interestingly, both him and Pacquiao have the same adviser in Al Haymon, which could make the negotiations a lot easier should they pursue a future fight.
“Tank” captured the vacant super featherweight belt last year after a third-round TKO win over Jesus Cuellar. The undefeated boxer is set to defend his belt against former titlist Abner Mares on February 9 in front of his challenger’s fans in Carson, California.
“Abner is a great fighter, he has a big fan base out there (in California). When Al came to me with the fight, I thought about when Floyd (Mayweather, former five-division champ and Davis’ promoter) fought (the late Arturo) Gatti. Gatti wanted to fight Floyd so bad that Floyd said, ‘Alright, I’ll fight you in your backyard.’ I’m willing to do the same in front of Mares’ fans.”
Should Manny Pacquiao fight Gervanto Davis next? What do you think of this match-up?
