Does Garcinia Cambogia Work: An Honest Review

Garcinia Cambogia, or as Doctor Oz calls it, the “newest and fastest fat buster”. Doctor Oz has promoted several fat loss supplements in his show, and more often than not, he’s been right. But even the great Dr. Oz can make a mistake. Now, let’s not go as far as saying that garcinia cambogia is fraud. No, the answer to the question does garcinia cambogia work is actually “Yes”. However, the reality is that the supplement is far from a miracle pill that will help you shed 10 pounds in one month.

What is Garcinia Cambogia?

To understand and answer the question does garcinia cambogia work, we must understand what the product actually is. The supplement is extracted from a tropical fruit bearing the same name, and has quickly become one of the most popular products, with more than one million searches on Google every month. The fruit, known also as Malabar tamarind, has been used with years for adding sour flavor to your meals. The supplement is actually extracted from the skin of the fruit where most of the active compounds are. The hydroxycitric acid, found in the skin is similar to the acid found in citrus fruits like lemons and oranges.

How does it work?

The supplement works in two ways. First and foremost, garcinia cambogia blocks enzymes that produce fat, making it harder for your body to produce fat. As a result, you are losing weight. Second, the supplement reduces your appetite, and especially your cravings for sugary foods. There are also positive side effects as reducing cholesterol, reducing inflammation, reducing triglycerides, increasing antioxidants in your body and so on.

The studies

There are hundreds of studies trying to answer the question “Does garcinia cambogia work”. Some of them are done on rats and other animals, and some are done on humans. Let’s take a look at some of the studies:

All of the studies show major success and rapid weight loss not only in animals, but in humans as well. But the studies are only half of the answer. Let’s take a look at the other half.

The Truth behind the Science

As with every vitamin, mineral and supplement on the market, the trick with garcinia cambogia is in dosing. You have to take the right product, the right dose, and in the right way. Scientists warm that there are three types of HCA acid, the one found in supplement. One form blends with calcium, one with magnesium, and one with potassium.

The best product, or the best supplement is the one that bonds with calcium and potassium. That way, you are getting maximum effectiveness and absorption of hydroxycitric acid. That being said, the right way to use the supplement for weight loss is by finding a product with 50% HCA, and dose around 1.5 grams of it, three times per day. You need to consume the supplement at least 30 minutes before your meal, on an empty stomach, with some recommendations going up to 60 minutes. Why? Because the supplement can bond with compounds of your food and lose its effectiveness. For those of you that don’t know, every supplement needs to be taken 30 to 60 minutes before meals, because of the “food effect” we mentioned.

So, that being said, the answer to the question does garcinia cambogia work is Yes, but you need to follow the guidelines.
