The camp of Floyd Mayweather Jr has responded to Conor McGregor’s recent statement that he wants a rerun of their August 2017 boxing clash.
In a recent appearance at the Tony Robbins Podcast, McGregor opened up about his loss to the undefeated boxing legend before claiming that he would win if a rematch happens.
The Irish star said he was on the driver seat on the early rounds but Mayweather, being a crafty boxer, was able to adjust and switched back to his old style of game.
“I was whooping him in the early rounds,” McGregor said, per MMA Weekly.
“I actually went back to my corner after the first round and said ‘this is easy’.”
“Now you’ve got to respect that. That’s what a crafty veteran can do.”
“He switched it to that old Mexican boxing style. . . He never fought like that in his entire career.”
“He was forced to fight that way cause he was getting beaten when he was fighting his old way.”

“I Know I Would Win”
If the second instalment to their rivalry comes to light, McGregor is confident that he will come out on top as he will be more prepared this time, following a 10th round technical knockout loss to Mayweather.
“I would like to rematch him under boxing rules, again,” McGregor stated, per Complex.
“And I believe I would win. Actually, there I go again with that fake humbleness. I know I would win.”
“The approach caught me off guard. I was not prepared for it, I was not used to it…and he walked me down and ended up getting the stoppage.”
A rematch with Mayweather may seem unlikely this year as McGregor is eyeing a comeback in the Octagon after absorbing another emphatic loss last year in the hands of UFC lightweight champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov.
But Mayweather’s camp has a response to the Irishman expressing his desire for a rematch.

Floyd Mayweather Would Oblige
The CEO of the Mayweather Promotions, Leonard Ellerbe, told TMZ Sports that the undefeated boxer would be willing to give McGregor a shot at another dance and another ass-whopping.
“That’s interesting. I hadn’t heard that but Conor McGregor knows he’s always welcome to that ass-whooping.”
“I have the utmost respect for Conor, Dana, and those guys.”
“If Conor McGregor wants some of that smoke again, he knows what he’s got to do.”
Ellerbe also reminded the former UFC two-division champion that he needs to convince first his boss, Dana White, before he can get his wish.
“He knows what he’s got to do.”
“All he’s got to do is call Dana. That’s all he has to do.”
“I can’t speak for Floyd but I’ll tell you what, Conor McGregor, if he wants that ass-whooping again, I’m sure Floyd would oblige to that.”
