Is Daniel Cormier a Dirty Fighter?
Daniel Cormier just dethroned Stipe Miocic after making quick work of the defending champion in the UFC 226 heavyweight fight last Saturday.
The Ultimate Fighting Championship trooped to the T-mobile Arena to stage a gigantic matchup between longtime heavyweight champion Miocic and MMA veteran Cormier.
When the smoke cleared, it was DC who came out as the last man standing in the highly anticipated clash. Cormier did not just throw Miocic from his longtime reign in the heavyweight division. He also earned a shot of history after becoming a double champion in the prestigious mixed martial arts competition.
DC now holds the heavyweight and light heavyweight titles.
With 27 seconds left in the opening salvo, Cormier delivered a solid right elbow to the defenceless Miocic. As the defending champion fell to the ground, Cormier took advantage and threw several punches to his head. That served as the nail in the coffer as the referee hailed DC as the winner.
“I was a heavyweight for a long time, and I left the division. I never knew what I could become, but tonight I got the answer. I’m a two-division champion, baby!”
MMA Fans Slammed DC for This Dirty Play
But despite his success, some MMA fans criticized the 39-year old fighter for his so-called ‘dirty antics’ in the match.

In the early goings of the first round, Cormier noticeably pulled off an eye poke against Miocic. The fight went to a momentary pause as the defending champion tried to recover. Miocic decided to return to the fight, with his eye now obviously hurt. Then after few moments, DC went on to reduce him to dust via knockout.
Check out these furious reactions from MMA fans regarding DC’s controversial eye poke:
Always liked & rooted 4 Cormier, but that eye poke was intentional. Don't believe me? Watch it again in slow-mo; he flicks his fingers out at the end of the strike. Never thought of him as a dirty fighter b4. He shld apologize. I'll root against him going forward until he does.

A very smart man once said "Either you win, or you learn."
Cormier clearly learned something from those Jones losses, because he nailed that eye poke. #UFC226

I love Cormier, but it's not a legit win when you eye poke the shit out of Stipe prior to the KO.

I don't want to be that guy but the eye poke at least kind of mars Cormier's win. He got half a dozen warnings about sticking out his fingers, the KO happened shortly after the eye poke and the eye poke damn near looked intentional. He should have lost at least two points #UFC226

I really have no idea what to expect with the main event. We may be living in a simulation. Cormier via eye poke.

Good strategy by Cormier. Eye poke multiple times then when the guy can't see time for the k.o. #UFC226

This was shocking cause Stipe was winning this fight but momentum changed with the eye poke by Cormier. Wow https://t.co/8aWGBNFyfy

Daniel Cormier is a cheat. Straight up. The eye poke COMPLETELY changed the fight. Stipe is the true champ and will be back. Mark my words.

Don’t Be Blind
if you don't think that eye poke affected Stipe's ability to gauge distance and move away from the clinch with Cormier, you're as blind as Stipe was after that eyepoke

Back at it
Daniel Cormier back to his cheating ways, blatant eye poke #UFC226
