After a series of turnarounds, the Ultimate Fighting Championship has found its main event bout for a Fight Night card this July.
The Nevada-based promotion first targeted a title fight featuring Valentina Shevchenko who will defend her flyweight strap.
This is following Shevchenko’s quick work of Jessica Eye in the co-main event of UFC 238.
But the UFC immediately shut down the women’s flyweight title bout as it attempted to promote a light heavyweight clash instead.
The light heavyweight clash was to be between Jan Blachowicz and Luke Rockhold from the UFC 239 pay-per-view card but was of no avail as well.
With neither of these bouts coming to fruition, the MMA festivities in San Antonio will now be headlined by a welterweight matchup starring the hot-streaking Leon Edwards and the Brazilian fighter, Rafael Dos Anjos.
UFC President Dana White told Yahoo! Sports last Thursday that the fight is official, with the eventual winner potentially getting a shot at the welterweight championship.

With seven straight wins already on his slate, Edwards has been campaigning for a high-profile fight in a chance to inch closer to a title contention.
Last March, the British sensation continued to make head turns with a stunning upset of Gunnar Nelson at the UFC Fight Night 147 in London.
After his massive victory over Nelson, Edwards got into a heated confrontation with co-welterweight Jorge Masvidal backstage.
‘Gamebred’ was answering some questions from the media when he surprisingly abandoned the interview to confront and exchanged punches with Edwards.
In an Instagram post, ‘Rocky’ sent a warning to Masvidal that they will meet once again to settle some unfinished business.
“Jorge, fair play sneaking your shots in when you could, but now you’re f-cked. If security wasn’t there you wouldn’t have made it back to the U.S., I’ll see you soon.”

Edwards finally landed a fight against a top-five opponent.
Though it is not going to be against Masvidal, the road to a title shot will still be rough for him as he will face a tough opponent in third-ranked welterweight, Dos Anjos.
‘RDA’ recently returned to the win column after submitting Kevin Lee in the main event of UFC Rochester last month.
Before this submission victory, he suffered back-to-back losses at because of Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington.
The Brazilian fighter holds notable wins against the likes of Donald Cerrone, Nate Diaz, Anthony Pettis, and former welterweight kingpin, Robbie Lawler.
