Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone is really done campaigning for a money fight with the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s biggest draw in Conor McGregor.
Cerrone booked a return trip to the lightweight division last January.
He immediately made an impact after making quick work of Alexander Hernandez and bringing home the Performance and Fight of The Night honours.
After this dominant win, ‘Cowboy’ said he wants McGregor as his next opponent as he builds his path towards a title shot.
Cerrone called out Conor and even offered him to fight in Ireland.
McGregor responded to the challenge and told Cerrone, “I’ll fight you.”
MMA fans were happy that McGregor is abiding by the rankings as he should be.
With the outcome of his fight against Khabib Nurmagomedov, it is apparent that he is not getting an immediate rematch.
McGregor has admitted that he is ready to face the next in line to get back on top of the rankings.

Chase Is Over
For Cerrone, he is done playing the waiting game for the McGregor fight after the back and forth stunts by the Irishman.
He told MMA Junkie in an interview last month that the ‘chase is over‘ and said he is willing to take on whoever is next even if it is not ‘The Notorious.’
“We were supposed to fight in April, then July and just kept stringing it along. And I was like, ‘Yeah, I’m not going to wait. Let’s go.'”
“The chase is over. It’s done.”
“Who knows, man.”
“I’ll take it if it does, of course. If not, we’ll take whoever’s next. I love my job. I love fighting.”

Focus on Winning The Title
‘Cowboy’ has won two straight bouts against Alexander Hernandez and Al Iaquinta respectively since returning to lightweight division last January.
With Cerrone cracking the top five of the 155-pound rankings, he is serious in earning a shot at the lightweight title, which could happen if he beats #1 contender Tony Ferguson.
The UFC veteran will battle ‘El Cucuy’ this Saturday in the main card of UFC 238, and if he comes out with the win, he would want to fight for the title next than lock horns with McGregor.
“No (I’m going to go with the title),” Cerrone told Mike Bohn and John Morgan of MMA Junkie.
“Conor’s had his shot. Sit your ass down now. (I’ll) take the belt.”
“This is a No. 1 contender, so this is undoubtedly the way (to the belt),” he continued.
“I think I can go in there and finish him. I really do.’
“He’s got a kind of questionable jaw, and he’s just real looney and crazy. If you can beat crazy with crazy, let’s go.”
🤜 Cerrone/Ferguson odds:
– Tony Ferguson 3/5
– Donald Cerrone 6/4

“Now it’s time. It’s what I want. I’m going to go get it, I’m going to keep it, then I’m going to jump off on top.”
Will Donald Cerrone beat Tony Ferguson and get the next title shot a.k.a “The People’s Main Event“?
