Video: Derek Brunson Taunts Israel Adesanya, Gets Starched Like A Fresh Suit

Nigerian mixed martial artist, Israel Adesanya, is continuing to prove that he is more than just a prospect. ‘The Last Stylebender’ passed the first acid test of his career after annihilating the sixth-ranked middleweight fighter, Derrick Brunson, in the curtain-raiser of the UFC 230 main card.

The 29-year old fighter shut down a taunting Brunson in the first round to come up with an impressive knockout victory, which extended his winning streak to 15 fights and earned him the Performance of the Night honours.

Statement Win

Adesanya recorded the biggest victory of his career after he finished a more-experienced Brunson in the 4:51 mark of the opening frame en route to his 13th knockout win and the fourth consecutive win in nine months.

‘The Last Stylebender’ displayed a beautiful mix of defense and offence as he turned back his opponent’s five attempts to bring him to the ground before unleashing a flurry of strikes and a knee to the chin.

The wrestling specialist tried to reestablish his rhythm but Adesanya delivered another barrage of knees to drop him on the mat and drilled some power punches to come out with the victory.

But before that stunning ending, Brunson was seen smiling and taunting the Nigerian juggernaut, saying ‘Come on!’ Adesanya gladly took the challenge and gave him a complete massacre.

“I give myself a B-minus. They say, ‘man they got no wrestling. They say this was a walk in the park? No, this was a walk in the Garden, Madison baby.”

MMA fans were all praises for Adesanya for his scintillating performance at UFC 230. Some of them even called him the second coming of Anderson Silva while others lauded his great striking skills.

Adesanya is now on his way to stardom and the Ultimate Fighting Championship can look at a bright future.
