ESPN’s Ariel Helwani recently claimed that a heavyweight title fight featuring Lesnar and Cormier is being targeted for summer.
The 40-year old veteran has been vocal about his desire to fight the pay-per-view behemoth.
In a WWE-like encounter last year, DC met the wrestling star for the first time in the cage to plant the seed of their rivalry.
Shortly after Cormier was declared as the new 265-pound king, Lesnar stormed the cage and shoved DC before challenging him to a future fight.
Lesnar was flagged for an anti-doping violation in 2016, which cost him a one-year suspension and $250 000 fine.
He hasn’t fought in the cage for almost three years now and is coming off a disappointing stint at a Wrestlemania event.
Ahead of their potential clash, Cormier has a serious warning for Lesnar.

Cormier has been campaigning for a massive showdown with Lesnar before he marches into retirement.
He wanted the fight to happen before his 40th birthday, but an injury prolonged his absence after his first title-defence against Derrick Lewis. The opponent, meanwhile, has yet to be cleared for a return, though he has been re-enrolled in the USADA program.
Slowly, the road to the heavyweight title clash is getting clearer.
Lesnar lost his Universal Championship last weekend at the Wrestlemania 35, which provided more signs of a possible MMA comeback.
UFC President Dana White claimed DC has agreed to appear in three more fights before calling it a career. One of these fights is against Lesnar.
Recent reports also confirmed that the Nevada-based promotion is currently working on the Lesnar vs Cormier title fight, which could happen this August.
The fight is almost a certainty. Even Cormier himself is confident it is going to happen.
And once again, he insisted that Lesnar is very much deserving of a shot at the heavyweight championship.
In a recent interview with TMZ sports, Cormier stressed Lesnar is going to get the 265-pound title fight before sending a warning to the pay-per-view behemoth. (Transcript from MMA Mania)
“That’s the fight that needs to happen. He’s a former UFC champ, All-American in college,”
“This guy’s very, very deserving of a fight, and he’s gonna get it. Hopefully.”
“Lick those wounds because I got some brand new ones waiting for you.”
According to Dana White, the next heavyweight and light-heavyweight title fights in the UFC will be:
Daniel Cormier vs Brock Lesnar
Jon Jones vs Thiago Santos

The current heavyweight champion also has a message for the promotion’s head honcho.
“Dana, get on the phone right now,” he said. “If you haven’t called him yet, do it today. What are you waiting for?”
