The heavyweight clash featuring Daniel Cormier and Brock Lesnar is reportedly in the works for a title fight this summer. This is why when the WWE star fell short at Wrestlemania 35 on Sunday, DC seemed to be relieved.
Reigning heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier has been vocal about his desire to fight the pay-per-view behemoth.
In a WWE-like encounter last year, DC met the wrestling star for the first time in the cage to plant the seed of their rivalry.
Shortly after Cormier was declared as the new 265-pound king, Lesnar stormed the cage and shoved DC before challenging him to a future fight.
Recently, UFC president Dana White claimed that DC has three fights left before he can finally call it quits. One of these fights is against Lesnar.
In another interesting development, the former UFC champ came up short in his title-defence at Wrestlemania 35, which could pave the way for his highly-awaited Octagon return.

DC Vs Lesnar Targeted For August
Cormier has been campaigning for a fight with Lesnar before he retires, but the path to that showdown has been rough.
He sustained a back injury in his clash with Derrick Lewis, which prolonged his absence, while his potential opponent, Lesnar, has not yet been cleared to return.
> The good thing is the UFC look serious in pursuing the heavyweight title fight, which could probably take place this August.
“The UFC wants [Lesnar] back, as of right now he wants to be back, they’re giving him a heavyweight title fight if he comes back,” Helwani stated on Sports Center, via MMA Mania.
“Daniel Cormier, the heavyweight champion, wants to fight him.”
“Right now, the plan is for them to fight in August, later this summer, for that heavyweight championship. It’s not signed just yet, but that’s currently the plan.”
Another sign points to Lesnar returning to UFC as he lost his WWE Universal Championship to Seth Rollins last night, which drew a reaction from the 265-pound kingpin.

How will Lesnar fare against DC in the cage? Can he regain his lethal form before August? Or will Cormier manhandle him in their fight?
Let’s hope the UFC will make this match up. It should be a good one.
