The American mixed martial artist and ex-olympian boasts a 20-1-0, 1NC record in the league.
He tasted his lone defeat at the expense of Jon Jones in 2015 at the UFC 182 via a unanimous decision.
But, one of the glaring parts of his stats was his nine knockouts from his overall 20 victories. A win against Stipe Miocic next week will solidify his status as one of the greatest fighters of all time.
Let’s look back at Cormer’s five knockouts:
5. KO on Antonio Silva in Strikeforce: Barnett vs Kharitonov, September 11, 2011
One of the biggest upsets in the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix, Cormier delivered a stunning upset against the heavy favorite, Antonio Silva. Cormier utilized his power punches to knock off Silva in a match that lasted for less than four minutes.
4. TKO on Dion Staring in Strikeforce: Marquardt vs Saffiedine, January 12, 2013
In this recap of the Strikeforce: Marquardt vs Saffiedine, you can see how Cormier dominated Dion Staring in their fight. From the 1:35 to 1:55 mark, Cormier destroyed a hapless Staring and turned an expected barn-burner match to a lopsided one.
3. TKO on Patrick Cummins in the UFC 170, February 22, 2014
A year after pulverizing Dion Staring, Cormier made another stunning victory to keep his immaculate record unscathed. In one of his shortest fights, he pulled the rug from under Patrick Cummins and vanquished him 1:19 minutes into the opening salvo.
2. TKO against Gary Fraizier in Strikeforce: Kennedy vs Cummings, September 25, 2009
Not the prettiest win but a victory is a victory. Cormier announced his arrival in the octagon as he toppled fellow newcomer Gary Frazier in two rounds. It was the start of a colorful career for Cormier, who went on to sweep the next 14 matches.
1. TKO on Soa Palelie in XMMA 3, November 5, 2010
In the 14th month of his MMA career, Cormier delivered a classic and powerful overhand to Australian fighter Soa Palelei. The win gave Cormier his sixth consecutive victory in almost two years.
