Another controversial call.
The Ultimate Fighting Championship was once again hit with controversy after its officiating referee made another questionable call, this time, at the UFC Fight Night 147 in London, England.
Earlier this month, referee Herb Dean was criticised for what could be a premature stoppage during Robbie Lawler’s clash with newcomer and former Bellator and ONE champion, Ben Askren.
On Saturday night, it was referee Kevin Sataki who found himself in hot water, after calling a controversial decision in the welterweight showdown between Danny Roberts and Claudio Silva.
MMA fans were furious on the call, even calling for Sataki’s termination at UFC.
According to the referee, Roberts verbally tapped in the third round but the replays did not support his call.
UFC President Dana White was also upset with the call and has taken to social media to air his frustration while apologising to Roberts.

Danny Roberts and Claudio Silva tussled in a welterweight contest at UFC Fight Night 147 held at The 02 Arena in London, England.
In a controversial ending to their fight, referee Kevin Sataki called a stoppage in the third round following an armbar attempt by Silva.
Sataki claimed Roberts verbally tapped at the 2:37 mark but replays of the sequence did not show whether the welterweight fighter made a verbal submission.
“The ref stopped it at the time when I escaped. I’m just gutted. I was already out of the armbar. I might have grunted, it hurt. But I wasn’t done,” Roberts stated after the questionable loss via MMA Fighting.
Robert slipped to 6-3 win-loss UFC record after the defeat and 16-4 in his overall professional MMA career while Silva kept his unbeaten streak alive with his fourth consecutive victory since his debut.
