Men who are at ages 50 and above probably think that it would be absurd to fight younger and stronger lads.
But for Tim Karaker, a 53-year-old with a “dad bod”, showed the world that it’s possible to take down a fighter half his age.
Back in 2012, Karaker made an unexpected debut as an MMA fighter and accepted the fight against a 21-year-old despite just one hours notice and the opponent being his son.
The footage was recorded by UFC veteran Stephan Bonnar at Fire Extreme Fighting. In the video, Bonnar said that Karaker was just there to watch the fights. But for some reason, he was asked to fight while he was at the door.
The Unusual Matchup Even Gets Odder
Aside from the odd matchup and short notice, there’s another surprising twist with this bout: The young lad was his son.
According to the video, some say Karaker’s opponent was his “illegitimate son,” nonetheless, it calls for an exciting bout between the two men.
This may be an excellent example of a father teaching his son how to become a man, but it becomes so serious to the extent that he faces him inside the Octagon.
Once the bout begins, the fighters did what they had to and set aside their family ties. The 53-year-old was only fighting for the third time, but he showed the audience that he’s capable of it.
His son, on the other hand, probably thought his father had no chance at beating him – but boy, he was wrong.
Father of the Year
As you view the video, you would initially think that the 21-year-old fighter would win. When he got the dominant position, his father was able to escape.
However, despite Karaker’s age and built, he maintained good pacing throughout the fight. He was also able to put up a good fight against someone twice younger than him.
At around 3 minutes on the clock, the 53-year-old man was able to knock his son down before getting to the ground and pound. Shortly, the referee stopped the fight before things get worse.
At the end of the fight, Bonnar went up to Karakar in amazement and said, “You’re my hero! That was awesome!”

This video shows that age doesn’t matter when it comes to fighting. It takes a lot of years to become a man this tough.
It might be strange for a father to fight his son, but a lot of fathers applauded Karaker for showing an impressive parenting technique!
