“They say the odds of winning the lottery are one in a million. This pup was the winner this week. Amazing series of fortunate events.”
I couldn’t agree more with what Jarrett Little said on his Facebook post. This dog is indeed a one in a million.
This stray dog would’ve been still in a miserable state if he didn’t cross path with cyclist Jerrett Little. Mountain biker Jarrett Little was with a group of fellow cyclists riding in the woods near Columbus, Georgia when he spotted a stray dog that appeared to have been hit by a car.
With a broken leg, Little carried the dog on his back and gave him a ride into town and looked for help.
“We stopped to regroup and he came out of the woods to greet us. He was really thin, ribs showing and had a lot of road rash and a broken leg,” Little told CBS News. Little and his fellow cyclists were kind enough to offer the dog a food and water.
Once they arrived in Columbus to search for help, he and the dog found Andrea Shaw, a woman took an immediate interest in the injured dog.
She was there on a business trip when the dog got her attention. She immediately was taken by the saved dog.
“Right when we returned to my local bike shop to get him some more water and food, we instantly ran into Mrs Andrea who was in town from Maine. She decided to keep him and get him checked out medically.”
Shaw took the dog off Little’s hands. Only she hadn’t gotten him a medical help but also a new home.
Andrea Shaw paid for him to have his broken leg and toe repaired with surgery and found an organization that could help get him back to Maine to live on her horse farm. In honour of the town where she met him, she named the dog “Columbo”, “Bo” for short.
“Had I been five mins earlier or five mins later, we wouldn’t have crossed paths with her. It’s pretty cool how far he’s come,” Little said in a message to CBS News. It’s fate who brought him, Shaw and Columbo, together in the small Georgia City.
Bo Is Home With His New Family
“Bo” arrived safely in Maine with Andrea Shaw on her horse farm to start his new life. Shaw immediately posted an update about Bo’s health.
“Bo travelled with 25 staples in his hind leg after having four pins to put in to stabilize the fractures and a full cast on a front leg to stabilize a broken toe. They gave him all his meds and kept him comfy until he was back in my arms.”
To keep the followers updated on Bo’s progress and to help other dogs in need, Shaw made a page on Facebook: Adventures of Columbo.
I’m so lucky that Jarrett Little likes to bike! He and his friends found me outside of Columbus. They gave me some…
Bo is indeed getting the life he deserves. Congratulations to Columbo and his new family!
