Ultimate Fighting Championship’s biggest draw, Conor McGregor has broken his silence about his involvement in a dispute over whiskey last April.
‘The Notorious’ went viral earlier this month, but for the wrong reason, as a video of him sucker-punching a bar patron in Ireland surfaced online.
In the video, McGregor was seen losing his cool after an older man at the Marble Arch in Dublin refused to drink his Proper Whiskey 12.
The older man placed the glass away from him, but McGregor insisted on giving him another glass of whiskey, to which the man declined for the second time.
This refusal did not sit well with the Irish star, which sparked a heated exchange of words inside the bar.
Things then escalated as McGregor then punched the elderly man in the face before leaving the bar as other patrons escorted him outside.
The victim has spoken out about the altercation, labelling McGregor as a “bully with the money.”
Now, Conor speaks up.

Speaking to ESPN’s Ariel Helwani on Thursday, the former two-division champion said he is taking full responsibility for what happened at the Dublin pub.
“I was in the wrong,” McGregor told Helwani (transcript from MMA Mania).
“That man deserved to enjoy his time in the pub without having it end the way it did.”
“I must come here before you and take accountability and take responsibility.”
“I owe it to the people that have been supporting me. I owe it to my mother, my father, my family.”
“I owe it to the people who trained me in martial arts. That’s not who I am. That’s not the reason why I got into martial arts or studying combat sports.”
“The reason I got into it was to defend against that type of scenario.”

Not Gonna Hide
According to ESPN, Ireland’s national police are now conducting an investigation of the incident and McGregor is more than ready to face the aftermath of his misbehaviour.
“Whatever comes my way, I will face it.”
“Whatever comes my way, I deserve it. I will face this head on.”
“I will not hide from it. I was in the wrong. It was completely unacceptable behavior for a man in my position.”
Based on his comments, it looks like it’s a lesson learned for ‘Notorious’ as he stated that he should not be involved in this type of incident again.
“I need to just stop reacting to the bait.”
“People are trying to bait me into things. Am I the fish or am I the whale? I must be calm, I must be zen.”
“I must lead by example. There’s so many people looking up to me. How can I react in this way?”
“I need to get a hold of this and, like I said, I’m working very hard to do this.”
