Report: Conor McGregor Could Be Out For Six Months After UFC 229

Tony McGregor, Conor McGregor’s dad recently revealed that Connor McGregor and Dee Devlin are expecting their second child, due in early 2019.

Conor McGregor and Dee Devlin

Since 2008 Conor McGregor has been in a relationship with girlfriend Dee Devlin from Dublin, Ireland.

A local girl who grew up in Walkinstown, not far from Crumlin, Dublin, Ireland. Claiming to be McGregor’s No1 fan, Devlin quit her job in order to support McGregor by travelling with him. She is also an official member of his team and is in charge of his finances.

In fact, McGregor claims that he owes his career to his devoted partner, Dee. He has previously been quoted in 2017 as saying to the Irish Mirror, “My girlfriend worked very hard throughout the years and stuck by me when I had essentially nothing.”

“For me to be able to take her out of work, give her everything she’s ever wanted and to travel the world with, fills me with pride.”

Without Devlin, McGregor believes he would not be a champion without her. He is a big believer in the quote “behind every great man is an even greater woman”

Together, they already have a son named Conor Jack McGregor Jr. The Conor McGregor baby was born on 5 May 2018, weighing 8 pounds 14 ounces. Devlin often shares photos of McGregor and Conor McGregor baby showing the appreciation of how good of a father she believes McGregor to be.

What’s Next?

Whilst announcing the upcoming Conor McGregor Baby on ESPN’s Halwani show, McGregor’s father also mentioned that McGregor, regardless of the results from the upcoming Khabib fight, will be absent from competition in the lead up to their new baby.

This comes as sad news to most Conor McGregor fans.

Whereas others don’t seem to be that surprised.

It’s less than two weeks until McGregor makes his long-awaited return to the UFC Octagon. Fans will remember after UFC 205, McGregor announced he would be out until at least two months after his firstborn baby’s arrival. Considering the timeline as it stands now, it’s fair to say that a six-month absence is likely after UFC 229, win or lose.

On 6 October, McGregor will face Khabib at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. A fight which will be Khabib’s first title defence since beating Al Iaquinta at UFC 223. Also known as the moment where he became the UFC Lightweight Champion.

As well as being McGregor’s first fight in two years. And the first once since the well known New York incidence. Where McGregor threw a dolly at a bus in Brooklyn, one that Khabib was riding on.

A fact that resulted in McGregor saying “I just thank the Lord Jesus Christ that that man did not have the balls to step foot off that bus because trust me — or that the bus door did not open — because if that bus door had opened, I would not be here right now, he would be in a box, and I would be in a cell”.

The fight is sure to be one to watch with McGregor stating in the recent UFC 223 press conference “I am in a war state of mind”

Who do you think will win? McGregor or Khabib?
