Chad ‘2Slick’ Sugden will be taking a considerable acid test in his boxing career as he is set to face the Ugandan Southpaw boxer, Farouk Daku Malingumu, in an intriguing clash this October.
Fighting out of Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, the young light-heavyweight boxer is a former kickboxing standout, where he won the ISKA World and Intercontinental Championship.
He holds an overall 14-4-0 win-loss record in professional kickboxing, three of these coming by way of knockout, and has appeared in two bouts under the prestigious GLORY promotion in Dubai & Las Vegas.
Sugden came out victorious in two editions of GLORY kickboxing in 2015, defeating Atakan Arslan and Murthel Groenhart via unanimous and split decision respectively.
Following these stints, Sugden decided to shift to boxing and swept Deividas Sajauka in his debut last March 2016.
‘2Slick’ continued to make waves in boxing as he won four straight bouts before suffering the first and only loss of his career so far against Alistair Warren.
Cracking The Top 10
Sugden recovered from that defeat to Warren and never looked back as he piled up six consecutive wins to crack the top 10 of the British light heavyweight division.
Sugden’s most recent win against Luke Blackledge earned him a spot in the top 10, where he is the youngest among all boxers listed at 25 years old.
His coach, Dean Sugden, proposed a fight to Matchroom starring the young Sugden and Craig Richards for the British light-heavyweight title should Joshua Buatsi vacate it and move up a level allowing his fellow Matchroom boxer Richards to fight for it after a successful British Title Eliminator against Andre Sterling.
Rather than play safe Sugden wants to test himself and keep himself active with Real opponents. Securing another 8 round fight against an opponent of this Calibre will keep Chad in the mix as a potential opponent for Craig Richards should that opportunity come to fight for the British Light Heavyweight Title.
His team have secured a very experienced opponent who is the current Number 1 in the Netherlands.
So fan favourite 25-year old boxer will, while he waits for that call, lock horns with Farouk Daku on October 12 at the Acid Test card.
Sugden, who is backed up by Extrudakerb, BillyOh, Evolution Waste Management, and GSCouriers, will return to the Harvey Hadden Stadium in Nottingham, where he has yet to experience any defeat in two outings.
‘2Slick’ is one of the biggest draws in boxing in the UK and has the biggest fan following from a Nottingham-born boxer since Carl Froch.

Sugden’s next opponent, Daku, will be banking on his experience in their October clash.
The Ugandan Southpaw has been in the sport since 2006 and is a former 3 time East And Central African Champion, former WBF Champion, and former World Boxing Intercontinental Champion with 21 wins, 16 losses, and a draw in 39 fights.
His most recent win was against Igor Kudrytskiy, who also has 10 professional boxing victories like Sugden.
Daku would be a worthy opponent for Sugden in the Acid Test card, which is shaping to be a battle of youth vs experience.
Daku is taking inspiration from Ugandan boxers like Godfrey Nyakana and Kassim Ouma in his boxing journey while Lennox Lewis, Mike Tyson, Muhammad Ali, and Manny Pacquiao are some of his boxing heroes.
