Brown Pinas is already a martial arts legend for a unique reason.
When he made his debut at ONE Fighting Championship last July, he instantly became a fan-favourite because of his unusual moniker. Now on just his second appearance in the Singapore-based promotion, the Dutch fighter is quickly becoming the next internet star as more and more sports fans took notice of his name.
Last Saturday, the 25-year old fighter came up with an explosive performance as he finished his opponent in the second round via a nasty spinning back elbow to finally barge into the win column of the promotion’s striking-only league, much to the delight of his legion of fans.

Bounce Back Win
ONE Championship headed to Indonesia last Saturday for the ONE: Warrior’s Dream, where it featured the Super Series striking bout and 11 mixed martial arts contests. Starring in the third fight of the competition was Pinas in a featherweight Muay Thai match against Yohann Fairtex Drai, who represented France and Thailand.
Both fighters treated the fans at the Stadium Istora in Jakarta to a thrilling opening round as they exchanged solid strikes. But the intense tussle did not last long as Pinas was able to land a ferocious spinning back elbow in the second round, which took the fight out his French opponent. Watch Brown’s winning moment in the video below:

It was the first win for the Dutch kickboxer at ONE Championship, following a unanimous decision loss against Chamuaktong of Thailand in a catchweight fight last July. His professional record improved to 26-9-1 while Drai suffered his eighth loss in his career.
It may be his first win under ONE FC but it was not the first time he won the hearts of netizens. Check out some of the best reactions from the Twitter-verse on Brown Pinas’ latest win. Australian sports commentator and journalist, Michael Schiavello, could not even pronounce his name with a straight face, just like all of us.

Fighter in @ONEChampionship called BROWN PINAS. Pronounced as you're thinking! We checked with his trainer:
US: How do you pronounced his name?
TRAINER: Brown. Like the colour Brown. Like James Brown. B-R-O-W-N.
US: Um… that's not the part of his name we wanted clarification on!
