The past weekend has been a roller coaster ride for WWE. Before the iteration of its biggest event this year, the Wrestlemania 35, the WWE Hall of Fame induction was marred with absolute chaos.
The promotion honoured its former star, Bret Hart, and his legacy at the WWE Hall of Fame on Saturday night at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
“The Hitman” paid tribute to the famed tag team he created with brother-in-law, Jim Neidhart.
The duo formed The Hart Foundation in the mid-1980s and became one of the most formidable tag teams in the promotion.
They went on to capture two World Tag Team titles before Hart left his partner to pursue a solo career, which led him to win five WWE Title championships.
In an unexpected turn of events, the 61-year old legend was attacked by a fan during his speech, which spurred pro wrestlers to come to the rescue.

One of The Greatest
Seconds after the fan tried to tackle Hart, WWE stars like Drake Maverick and Curtis Axel, Xavier Woods, and Tyson Kidd quickly stormed the ring to stop the attack.
Ronda Rousey’s husband and ex-UFC heavyweight, Travis Browne, was also there to help.
“The Hitman” did not suffer any injury from the attack and went on to continue his speech.
“The Hart Foundation left an indelible mark on WWE’s tag team division and created many lasting memories for the WWE Universe,” said the WWE on Hart and Neidhart.
Meanwhile, Neidhart’s daughter, Natalya, who was with Hart during the speech, described Hart as one of the greatest wrestlers of all time while condemning the attack in a social media post.
“I’m so proud of my uncle Bret Hart tonight during our HOF ceremony,” she wrote on Twitter.
“Bret is a cancer survivor, a stroke survivor and one of the greatest wrestlers of all time. He didn’t deserve to be attacked or have his moment or my dad’s diminished. We got it back on track. Thank you, guys.”
Hart’s Attacker Identified
The suspect was identified as Zachary Madsen, a 26-year old wrestling fan who is also an amateur mixed martial artist.
He was charged with two counts of third-degree assault, criminal trespass, and one other misdemeanour by the New York Police Department.
In the following reports, it was discovered that Madsen is competing at Nebraska’s Dynasty Combat Sports promotion.
The 6-foot-2 welterweight currently holds an amateur record of 2-1 and last appeared in a fight last March 2018, where he absorbed a first-round submission loss.
Another report claimed that he is indeed a big fan of wrestling as he was seen wearing a Jack Swagger shirt in one of his previous fights.
