Ben Askren continues to make his presence felt at the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
Less than a month away from his highly-anticipated UFC debut, the former Bellator and ONE welterweight champion blasted teammates, Conor McGregor and Dillon Danis, in a savage Twitter post.
Askren has been engaged in Twitter feuds against several UFC fighters following a historic trade late last year, which saw ONE Fighting Championship sending him to the UFC in exchange of flyweight ‘GOAT’ Demetrious Johnson.
And for his latest target, he reminded the SGB products of their fate at UFC 229.
Ben Askren was traded to UFC late last year for Demetrious Johnson amid speculations that the promotion’s flyweight class will be shut down in 2019. With an impressive resume being a former champion at ONE FC and Bellator MMA, expectations are sky high for the 34-year old mixed martial artist.
Since getting traded to the UFC, “Funky” has been making his presence felt by calling out almost the entire roster in his division and other fighters including Khabib Nurmagomedov. But the Nevada-based promotion booked him for UFC 233 against former champion Robbie Lawler.
The fight was moved to UFC 235 after the promotion decided to cancel its first pay-per-view event. Fans have been itching to find out if Askren is a real deal and the UFC 235 fight will be his first ultimate test. But can he live up to the hype?
Recently, “Funky” almost traded blows with Askren in a heated backstage confrontation with Kamaru Usman in a media scrum but Dana White and the UFC security team quickly separated the two fighters.
He has since blasted the welterweight title contender for releasing the video of the confrontation and for “trying to act tough while in a white skinny jeans.”
“Can you believe Marty put this video out? This video makes him look like a dumb-dumb and it was his camera person that put it out! He is bragging about this and this is what I can’t stand about fighters.”
“Listen, we get that you’re tough. You fight in a cage. I understand that perfectly, but he has to come up to me, [when] you know nothing is going to happen back there, Marty! Why are you getting in my face? You know you’re not gonna risk your main event shot by punching me in the back hallway.”
“Give me a freaking break. I couldn’t fathom why he was trying to act so tough and what he was trying to do or get out of the situation. If it was intimidation, that’s freakin’ laughable. . . Look at his skinny jeans! You can’t be acting tough when you’re in white skinny jeans and a scarf.”
The UFC newcomer is proven to have an appetite for setting people on fire. And just recently, he ripped Dillon Danis and Conor McGregor into pieces after suggesting that the lack of coaching led to the Irish star’s loss at UFC 229.
Danis posted a tweet reflecting on their team’s preparation and expectation before Askren came up with a savage response.
We do not rise to the level of our expectations. We fall to the level
of our training. pic.twitter.com/LX6OTjGa1z

The 25-year old Danis rose to prominence when Team McGregor made a recruitment coup in 2016 for Conor’s rematch with Nate Diaz. Danis and Conor Wallace were added to Conor’s training camp ahead of the fight, with the former in charge of improving the Irish Star’s ground game.
He also trained “The Notorious” for his fight against Nurmagomedov at UFC 229, where McGregor tapped out in the fourth round. Conor is currently serving a six-month suspension and is expected to clash with Donald Cerrone in his return.
