Alexander Gustafsson Gives Jon Jones Permission To Use Steroids At UFC 232

Alexander Gustafsson will be a man on a mission when he marches into the light heavyweight title fight against Jon Jones in the main event of UFC 232.

‘The Mauler,’ who suffered a tough unanimous decision loss to ‘Bones’ in their first encounter, is not just shooting for a sweet revenge but is also looking to end the ‘Jon Jones era’ in their highly-awaited rematch this December 29 at the T-mobile arena.

Gustafsson vs Jones II

The Gustafsson vs Jones rematch will headline the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s final offering in 2018, with the vacant light heavyweight belt on the line. The Swedish fighter is looking to bounce back from a decision loss in their 2013 showdown dubbed by many as the greatest fight of all time.

Since their first meeting, Gustafsson had to endure a string of losses as he dropped his next three fights before winning the next two. He was victorious at UFC Fight Night in Hamburg, Germany with a unanimous decision win over Jan Błachowicz in September 2016 before earning a knockout victory in his home soil against Glover Teixeira last year.

Meanwhile, Jones continued to pile up more wins but the streak ended after his technical knockout victory over Daniel Cormier was overturned to a no-contest, following a failed drug test. The former UFC champion tested positive for a banned substance, Turinabol, which costed him the light heavyweught strap.

On December 29, expect fireworks to explode as Gustafsson and Jones will go to an all-out war for the second time. The 205-pound title, which will be vacated by DC, will be the main prize of this intirguing match-up and the Arboga native claimed that he has prepared for this rematch since the night of his defeat in 2013.

Dream Fight

In a recent media scrum, the 31-year old fighter talked about his upcoming fight with Jones. He shared that he has been training for this fight for a long time as he aims to end the ‘Jon Jones era’ by beating him at UFC 232.

“It’s a little bit of both, of course, but if I have to choose one, it’s the rematch. Fighting Jon Jones again, and it’s been five years since we fought – it’s the fight I’ve been wanting for a long time and dreaming about and training for all this time. All this time, I’ve been training for this fight. This is it. I’m preparing for him. Every session, I’ve prepared for him. That’s the best guy out there, and that’s the guy I’m beating.”

“It doesn’t matter to me if he’s a cheat or not. He can cheat on the 29th, I don’t care. It doesn’t matter if he takes his steroids,”

“I can’t want it more than this. It’s a dream fight, and that’s the thing that’s been pushing me the most. I want the biggest fights, fighting the best guys out there, and this is just the highlight. This is it.”
