Geordie Shore star Aaron Chalmers suffered his first loss in professional mixed martial arts at the wrong place, and at the wrong time.
The reality television star tussled with Corey Browning in the co-main event of Bellator’s all-new European series and its first MMA show under the UK’s Channel 5 banner.
Chalmers almost had the fight in his bag in the opening round, but a costly mistake changed his fortune as his American opponent later submitted him in front of his home fans in Newcastle, England.
Turning The Tables
The Santa Monica, California-based promotion, Bellator MMA, continued its quest of domination in European soil as it hosted its first instalment to the all-European series last February 9 at the Metro Radio Arena, Newcastle.
But things did not end well for the New Castle natives.
In the main event, Ryan Scope dropped a split decision to Patricky Freire, 29-28, 29-28, 28-29.
In another heartbreaking loss, hometown fighter Aaron Chalmers recorded his first MMA defeat in five outings.
More than the end of a four-fight winning streak, what made it more painful for the Geordie Shore star was the crushing defeat came when his mom and his girlfriend were watching at ringside.
Chalmers took the driver seat early in the fight and was able to drop his visitor in the opening round with a massive right hook.
Thinking that the fight was over, he walked away and paused, which gave Browning enough time to recover and avoid a quick finish.
The American turned the tables in the next two rounds and made Chalmers pay the price of his error.
The Newcastle native ate punches in the final minute of the second round while Browning was on top of a mount before he was submitted in the third with a vicious ankle lock.
The American then raised his middle finger in front of the Geordie Shore cast after submitting their co-star.

"Those kind of ankle locks can end your career."
Corey Browning is looking dangerous at #BellatorNewcastle tonight.
