Are 50 Cent’s three words really worth this million dollar deal with Bellator?
The acclaimed rapper disclosed on Wednesday through his Instagram account that he just signed a $1 million deal with Bellator parent company Viacom.
What for? His three-word catchphrase “Get the Strap.”
Lately, 50 Cent has been using the phrase when posting on his social media accounts. His latest Instagram post now says MMA promotions company Bellator will be using it as a statement on their official apparel.
So far, Bellator has not yet confirmed such a deal with the rapper, so people are now taking Curtis James Jackson III for his word.
That’s a pretty huge sum of money for just three words! Bet you’re trying to think of one of your own for UFC to buy!
Fortune magazine reported 50 Cent’s net worth to be more than $150 million in 2015. During that same year, the affluent artist declared bankruptcy. His court filings also showed his debt amounting to more than $30 million.
Currently, his reported net worth plays around $20 million, which means an extra million dollar for three words is a huge addition.
Can you imagine a rap singer inside the octagon? The Queens, NY native has teased a plan of pursuing an MMA career this year. He seemed to be befriending Bellator too, seeing him at some of its events and with company President Scott Coker.
Earlier this year, 50 Cent had a fight with an MMA combatant, not inside the Octagon, but on Instagram. It was a beef with UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor which has gotten a little bit below the belt.
Is the ‘palling around’ with Bellator simply to close a business deal? It may be. Things can work for MMA that way, or maybe even on a regular basis.
